Salt Lake City, Utah — Investigators with the Salt Lake City Police Department are examining the rollover crash that claimed the life of Robert “Jay” Hill, 62, early Sunday morning. Hill, a sergeant with the Utah Department of Corrections, was pronounced dead at the scene after being ejected from his vehicle during the incident.
Police reported that officers responded shortly after 7:20 a.m. on February 15, 2026, following a call from a bystander indicating a man had been thrown from a vehicle that had rolled into a nearby field. Investigators believe Hill was traveling southbound near 700 North 8000 West when he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and roll multiple times. Authorities confirmed no other vehicles were involved.
