Kateryna Tovmash & Matthew Wade Double Homicide Moore County, NC Obituary and Death
On what should have been a day of love and celebration, tragedy struck the Woodlake neighborhood of Vass. Kateryna Tovmash, 21, and Matthew Wade, 28, lost their lives in a double homicide discovered the morning of February 14, 2026.
Deputies from the Moore County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 7:45 a.m. call reporting a shooting at a Daphne Lane residence. Both victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. Later that day, authorities arrested Caleb Fosnaugh in Ohio in connection with the case, noting a prior relationship with Kateryna.
Kateryna was a vibrant presence in the Woodlake community — young, hopeful, and deeply loved. Her kindness radiated through friendships and family ties, leaving an imprint far beyond her years.
Matthew, originally from Hamilton, served honorably while stationed at Fort Bragg. His life reflected dedication — to his country, to his partner, and to those he held dear. He was remembered as courageous yet gentle, principled yet warm.
As the investigation continues, the broader Moore County community stands united in grief and remembrance. Vigils and tributes honor two lives defined not by violence, but by love, service, and shared dreams. Their memories will remain a testament to lives that, though tragically brief, profoundly touched all who knew them.
