Suspect Identified in Beech Grove Police Shooting – Kenneth Terrell Johnson

A fatal officer-involved shooting in Beech Grove, Indiana left one officer dead and another injured Monday evening, prompting a massive manhunt for the suspect. Officer Brian Elliott, 33, a two-year veteran of the Beech Grove Police Department and former Marion County Sheriff’s Department officer, was killed while responding to a reported disturbance.

Law enforcement agencies have identified the alleged shooter as 47-year-old Kenneth Terrell Johnson. Indiana State Police said the confrontation occurred at Diplomat Court around 5:30 p.m., with Johnson opening fire before fleeing. Authorities describe Johnson as armed, dangerous, and currently at large.

A Blue Alert was issued to the public. Johnson is 6 feet tall, weighs approximately 165 pounds, and was last seen in a royal blue sweatshirt and blue pants. Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any information to 911. Schools, including Beech Grove High School, were briefly placed on lockdown while the search continued.

The community continues to mourn Officer Elliott, remembered as a committed hometown protector, while law enforcement intensifies efforts to apprehend Johnson safely.
