Jesse Jackson Cause of Death: Civil Rights Activist Icon Dies at 84

With heavy hearts, the family of Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr., announces his passing on Tuesday morning. He died peacefully, surrounded by those who loved him most.
As founder of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and a lifelong Civil Rights leader, Reverend Jackson devoted decades to amplifying the voices of the oppressed and advancing equal opportunity across the globe. His leadership during the Civil Rights era, his groundbreaking presidential campaigns, and his tireless voter registration efforts helped shape generations of social change.
He leaves behind his wife, Jacqueline; children Santita, Jesse Jr., Jonathan, Yusef, Jacqueline, and Ashley; along with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
In a statement, the family described him as “a servant leader whose faith in justice and love transformed lives worldwide.” They encourage those who mourn him to carry forward his commitment to equality and compassion.
