Tragedy struck Beech Grove, Indiana Monday evening as Officer Brian Elliott, 33, was killed in the line of duty. The shooting occurred at the Beech Meadow Apartments when Elliott and a fellow officer responded to a reported disturbance. Authorities said a suspect opened fire, critically wounding Elliott, who later died at Eskenazi Hospital. A second officer was injured but is expected to survive.

The suspect, identified by law enforcement, remains at large. Indiana State Police issued a Blue Alert, mobilizing multiple agencies to conduct a manhunt. Streets were closed, helicopters deployed, and residents were urged to remain vigilant as officers searched the area.

Elliott, a Beech Grove native, had served just over a year with the Beech Grove Police Department and previously with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. He is remembered as a hometown hero, devoted to his city, his colleagues, and the people he protected. His legacy of courage and service will endure in the community he loved.
