Rhonda L. Bartnik Death, Obituary, Whiteford Township, Michigan: Family Mourns Sad Death

Whiteford Township, Michigan — Authorities are investigating a fatal traffic collision on February 14, 2026, that claimed the life of 60-year-old Rhonda L. Bartnik of Ottawa Lake, Michigan. The crash occurred at approximately 9:56 p.m. on northbound US-23, just south of Sterns Road, according to Troy Goodnough. Preliminary findings indicate Bartnik was traveling southbound in the northbound left lane when her 2017 Ford Escape collided head-on with a gray 2023 Ford F-150 driven by 18-year-old Calvin A. Campbell of Dundee, Michigan.

Campbell and his 17-year-old passenger were transported to ProMedica Toledo Hospital with serious injuries. All occupants were wearing safety belts, and airbags deployed in both vehicles. Ms. Bartnik was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators have identified careless driving as a contributing factor.

The investigation is being led by Lieutenant Brian Quinn and Deputies Alec Preadmore and Steven Warren of the Traffic Services Division. Emergency responders from the Whiteford Township Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Victim Services Unit and Chaplain Program assisted at the scene.
