Deadly stabbing in Downtown San Diego: Police investigats suspected homicide in downtown San Diego
San Diego, California — The San Diego Police Department has confirmed the death of a man who was fatally stabbed Saturday night in Downtown San Diego. At approximately 9:23 p.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing near the intersection of C St. and 8th Ave. Upon arrival, they discovered a white male in his 40s on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Despite efforts by officers to render aid, the victim succumbed to his injuries. While tending to the scene, authorities say the suspect fled to a nearby apartment where he attempted to start a fire. Officers forced their way into the apartment, apprehending 34-year-old Grant Parker with the assistance of a police K9.
Parker, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, will be booked into jail on suspicion of murder once medically cleared. The relationship between Parker and the victim remains unclear.
Due to the crime scene’s proximity to trolley tracks, trolley service in the area was temporarily suspended, though service has since resumed.
Authorities urge anyone with information related to the case to contact the SDPD Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
